Welcome to Ely Sailing Club

Ely Sailing Club is based at Roswell Pits in Ely, Cambridgeshire. We have over 35 acres of fresh water with islands, trees and banks. The sailing is interesting, challenging and fun. There is dry launching directly from jetties, and crews are able to sail without getting their feet wet. We are a recognised Royal Yachting Association (RYA) training centre providing a range of sailing courses. In addition to sailing, we run a variety of social events for members. Our club is family orientated and run by its members, for its members, with good value and enjoyment for all. Our key goal is to promote sailing as an enjoyable hobby in a friendly and welcoming club, open to all levels of experience & confidence.

Ely Youth League :-)

Today, Saturday 5 July was one of our favourite days of the sailing calendar - it was Ely's turn to host a round of the Cambs Youth League. The league is a collaboration between 5 local clubs to promote friendly sailing for cadets up to 19. Breaking from the past few years' precedent, it was a breezy day! Kicking off early, we were hot to go with pastries and coffee a plenty More »

2025 Overnight Race a Success

Are we mad? Maybe a little. Did we have fun? By the bucket full. Last night, 21 st -22 nd June, on the summer solstice, was the Ely Sailing Club 12 hour overnight race. Starting at 6pm, teams started arriving and rigging the 3 club Wayfarers for their overnight exploring. The weather looked problematic at first with the happy sailors attempting to set a course in very little wind, deciding eventually on a More »
