    Model Yachts - 30th November Sailing and New Wednesday Sessions

    Saturday 30th saw some of the best Model Yacht sailing weather of the winter season so far with a good southerly breeze blowing for 10 keen sailors.     The shiniest night of the club year took place yesterday (16 th November) with the annual awards presentation and Laying Up Supper.     Ely SC Win Youth League for First Time!

    For the first time since 1996 when the Cambridgeshire Sailing Youth League started, Ely Sailing Club have come away as the overall winners of the 5 event series taking place at 5 different clubs across the year and culminating with yesterday's last race at Hunts Sailing Club.   • Jamie Butcher Memorial Races for 2024 Completed

    Jamie Butcher is a sadly-missed member of Ely Sailing Club who passed away in a tragic capsize whilst sailing off the English coast in early 2007. Since that accident, Ely Sailing Club has awarded the Jamie Butcher Memorial Trophy in memory of Jamie which is awarded to the winner of our early October trophy race which aims to raise funds for a nominated charity each year.     Ely Win the Team Prize at Paxton Youth League

    5 Ely SC Cadets travelled to Paxton Lakes SC on 21st Sept to take part in the 4 leg of the 2024 Cambs Youth League.     Seamanship Course wraps up 2024 sailing courses

    Ely SC's wonderful instructors have rounded up sailing courses for 2024 with a very successful RYA Advanced Seamanship module course. 6 students learnt how to cope with the unexpected elements of sailing on this course such as sailing rudderless (which involved lots of circles before anyone managed it!), sailing without a board, reefing afloat, anchoring and even sailing backwards!     Reminder - Paddlesports Not Permitted

    With the nice weather, we have seen an increase in the number of swimmers, paddleboarders, kayakers etc. attempting to use Roswell Pits. Please be reminded that the lake is private and only sailing (within club rules and bylaws) is permitted. There is no swimming, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding/SUP etc. permitted at any time.

    Ely Cadets Succeed at National Regatta

    4 sleepy cadets have returned from the National Schools Sailing Association regatta that took place this week on Bassenthwaite Lake.
