Model Yachts

Our model yacht fleet uses the radio controlled DragonForce 65 class and sails throughout the year - the perfect way to sail all year without getting wet or cold!

Designed for those who enjoy model yachting, don't like getting wet or circumstances prevent them from sailing. The boat is relatively cheap to purchase and sails easily for beginners; in addition, the club has a boat that can be used for free if you don't own your own. Races are held on Tuesday Evenings in the summer from 6pm, and Saturday Afternoons in the winter from 1pm.

Model yacht membership is low-cost at £28/year for the 2025 season (or £14 if purchased after 30th June) and includes year round model yacht sailing as well as full access to the social side of Ely Sailing Club.

The model yacht fleet are a friendly group who welcome all potential members - there is no experience required and help and support with set up and sailing can be offered in abundance to new members whether sailors, past sailors or those brand new to sailing.

If you want to give model yacht sailing a try, whatever your age, experience or ability, please do feel free to show up to any scheduled session and we would be delighted to meet you - please refer to the website calendar for the most up to date timings.
