Ely Win the Team Prize at Paxton Youth League

5 Ely SC Cadets travelled to Paxton Lakes SC on 21st Sept to take part in the 4 leg of the 2024 Cambs Youth League. With a gentle north easterly breeze the Ely gang had a good first race with Edward and Fergus taking 3rd and 4th place, Jash 10th, Michael 14th and Lola 19th. After a good lunch, thanks to the local Scouts, and a queue to get boats back onto the water in time for the second race, we then saw a swap in order for the top two Ely cadets. Jash improved a place too. The final race got underway, Fergus was flying along and Lola and Michael were well up in the fleet. Unfortunately as the fleet were half way round the first lap thunder was heard and the weather apps showed it was getting closer. The race was abandoned and sailors brought in. The race committee waited to see if the weather would pass and then the wind return, but alas it wasnt to be. So the results were based on the first two races. Edward took 3rd place overall, Fergus 1st Under 15, Jashan 2nd Under 15, Michael 2nd U12 and Ely wonthe Team Prize which Lola collected on behalf of them all. Great team effort! The club is extremely proud of you all.
