Dear all,
Firstly, welcome to all our new members, both those who did the course in July and the experienced sailors who have joined us.
It's been great to see so many people out on the water recently, whether it's to practice, race or just relax and enjoy the proven health benefits of sailing. And huge thanks to everyone undertaking their duties that have enabled all our sessions to take place. As well as our club sailing, some of our cadets have been away with the NSSA for a week in Kent, Kieran has been off to the ILCA nationals and 17 of us enjoyed a day sailing on the Broads learning plenty about tides, keelboats and pretty scenery as we went!
Last Sunday (26th) saw the start of the August Series. As many people take holiday around this time of year, these races are a standalone series. Every week is 3 pursuit races which are perfect for beginner racers less confident with a busy start line, so if you've been tempted to give it a go, now is the ideal time.
As well as that, August sees 2 special Sundays. First up is the 9th August where we're planning a day of boat-based games and fun - if you've ever seen a cadet course where the balls make an appearance, that's the vibe we're going for. Club boats will be available for that, so please come along and enjoy the fun.
Then on the 30th August we have the Roswell Monster trophy races, starting at 11:30, 4 handicap races with 3 to count.
We also have a Saturday event on 22nd August where it's the return of friends day where club double handers are free to use to take friends and family for a sail and show them what they're missing out on! Just come down on the day and go sailing. Please be mindful of others and allow everyone chance to sail if there's significant demand on the club double handers. Alongside this, we'll be having cream tea - tea, scones and sailing, what better way to spend a summer Saturday afternoon?
Lastly, don't forget that the club is open after sailing on Friday evenings: bring some food or join in the takeaway order, play games, chat about life and sailing. The perfect way to transition into the weekend!
