Ely Cadets Win at the Home Leg of Cambs Youth League

Saturday 1st July saw the 3rd leg of this years Cambs Youth League take place at Ely SC. The 20 competitors from around the county were greeted to a moderate, blustery westerly breeze. Two flights raced with a mixed fleet of Toppers and an Optimist going off first and the Lasers 5 minutes later. Edward Human had an excellent days racing, improving by a place in each race; finishing 8th on the day, resulting in him moving up to 9th overall and 4th Under 15 in the series. Jashan Downs had a great day winning the Under 12s category and leading the overall series for that age group. Fergus Marshall wasnt far behind him taking second place Under 12, showing impressive tenacity, keeping going despite being shattered. Finally, Michael Hatton won youngest competitor. Michael completed all 3 races after only achieving his stage 1 and 2 qualification in June! One to watch for the future. Well done to all the Ely Cadets and the visiting sailors. A big thanks to all the Ely SC volunteers for helping to make it a fantastic day.
