Ely SC Cadets On Tour in the Norfolk Broads

A group of 6 Ely SC cadets, plus 4 members of the clubs Instructor Team have had a fantastic trip to the Norfolk Broads. Two crews assembled on Saturday morning at the fabulous Hunters Yard to each sail a vintage Rebel class keel boat. The cadets all completed their RYA level 4 course back in April. The Rebel class boats were certainly a change to the Toppers that the cadets usually sail, but the double hander training set the up well. With gentle breezes but very warm weather the two boats headed down to Acle; the crews discovering that sailing on a river is a different challenge to their home on Roswell Pit. After a picnic lunch and some much needed cans of pop they headed back, passed Ludham and a friendly race to Potter Haigham. A very hot and tired pair of Rebel crews returned safely to Hunters with big smiles and some stories to tell. All the cadets were seen to really improve their double hander skills through the course of the day. A big thanks to the adults that helped with the crewing, likewise many thanks to Hunters Yard.
